Over the Line, continued:

The exhibit is organized thematically and chronologically. New walls, new paint colors and information monuments created a unique space for each theme. This new sequence lead the visitor through the powerful history of Lawrence' and his subject, the African American experience.

The two memorable features of this exhibit were the long trapezoidal space near the entry that featured the Migration Series and the information monuments. The information "monuments" contained biographical and gallery explanation text. They were a sculptural counterpoint to the two-dimensional paintings in the exhibit. The long dramatic Migration space allowed these sequential paintings to be viewed without disruption.
